Footwear Care Guide

Scanlan Theodore footwear is of the finest quality and exudes luxury craftsmanship with our signature modern and timeless style. Our footwear is crafted in Italy from either Calf Leather, Nappa Leather, Suede, Kid Suede, Canvas or Mesh.

Calf Leather is utilised for its strength, durability and smooth finish. Nappa Leather is utilised for its fine grain finish and soft texture. Due to the supple nature, shoes crafted from Nappa Leather may stretch over time. Suede or Kid Suede is typically goat leather and offers a luxuriously soft feel. Our canvas is crafted from 100% cotton, while our Mesh styles are crafted from a blend of cotton and nylon, to ensure the longevity of these intricate styles.

How to care for Footwear
  • Avoid exposure to abrasive surfaces, solvents, damp air, water and overexposure to heat
  • We recommend that you Topy your footwear
  • Remove any protective plastic layers prior to first wear
  • Replace heel caps when required
  • Treat the leather or suede footwear with an appropriate protective spray prior to use

To ensure the longevity of your Scanlan Theodore footwear, we recommend storing your shoes in the accompanying cloth bag and box. Exposure to abrasive surfaces, solvents, damp air, water and overexposure to heat may result in permanent damage.

We recommend that our customers treat all suede and leather footwear with an appropriate protective spray prior to use to ensure their longevity. Do not use leather creams, oils, polishes or wax on suede products as they may leave permanent stains.

The soles of Scanlan Theodore footwear are crafted from leather and rubber. The outer soles crafted from leather, as a natural skin, will show signs of wear over time or through contact with abrasive surfaces. It is for this reason that we recommend that our clients Topy their footwear to provide added comfort and longevity to the soles, ensuring that the footwear can be enjoyed for years to come.

Additionally, Scanlan Theodore soles crafted from Leather are sold with a protective plastic layer on both shoes. This plastic layer is designed to protect the soles prior to purchase only and must be removed before your first wear. Failure to remove this plastic coating prior to wear can result in irreparable damage to the leather soles.

All Scanlan Theodore heels are sold with a set of replacement heel caps. Heel caps will show signs of wear over time or through contact with abrasive surfaces. Heel caps should be replaced before the inner metal reinforcement appears, to reduce the risk of damage to the leather around the heel.
